Madaba Longitudinal Garden

Traffic Study and Transportation Planning for the development of a 7 km longitudinal garden along the Jerusalem and Alfaisaliah corridors in Madaba, extending from Al-Tayyara Roundabout toward Mount Nebo. The study supported the transformation of the corridor into a tourism and recreational destination, addressing access, pedestrian and cycling mobility, parking, and traffic circulation while respecting Madaba's historic and cultural character.

Project Overview

The Longitudinal Garden project is a major tourism and public-realm development extending approximately 7 km along the Jerusalem and Alfaisaliah Street corridors in Madaba, from Al-Tayyara Roundabout toward Mount Nebo in the Siyagha area. The corridor represents an important tourism route in Jordan, attracting both domestic and international visitors, with Mount Nebo being a significant Christian religious and pilgrimage destination. The project is envisioned as a linear recreational corridor incorporating walking and cycling areas, green spaces, landscaping, site entrances and exits, pedestrian facilities, safety barriers, and appropriate lighting, while making use of existing mature trees and respecting the historic identity of Madaba. The objective was to assess the transportation and traffic requirements associated with the development and expansion of the Jerusalem Street corridor and establish a safe and accessible mobility framework for visitors and local users. The study aims to support pedestrian and cycling activity, improve access to the longitudinal garden, and ensure safe interaction between recreational users and vehicular traffic along the corridor. Our company provided Traffic Study and Transportation Planning services for the project, assessing the existing and proposed transportation conditions along the development corridor. The study considered access and egress arrangements, pedestrian and cycling circulation, vehicular movements, and the interaction between the proposed recreational facilities and the surrounding road network, supporting the phased development of the garden toward Mount Nebo. The transportation assessment supported the development of a safe, accessible, and tourism-oriented mobility corridor connecting Madaba with the Mount Nebo area. The proposed mobility framework enhances pedestrian and cycling connectivity while maintaining appropriate vehicular access and separation between traffic and recreational areas. The recommendations also support the project's phased implementation and integration with the historic, cultural, and tourism character of Madaba.
