Aswan Solar Farm Project

Environmental Impact Assessment for a 16 million m² solar farm in Aswan, Egypt, assessing construction-phase impacts including GHG emissions, heavy vehicle and equipment movements, and traffic management. The study developed traffic control measures, emission calculations, and mitigation strategies to support safe construction activities while minimizing environmental and community impacts.

Project Overview

The Aswan Solar Farm is a large-scale renewable energy development covering approximately 16,000,000 m². The project involves extensive site preparation works, including subdivision of the development area, construction of access roads, zoning of solar panel areas, and cut-and-fill grading to establish uniform ground conditions for solar panel installation. The assessment aims to evaluate the environmental impacts associated with the construction and site preparation activities, with particular focus on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and construction-phase traffic management. The study seeks to quantify emissions generated by heavy machinery and transport vehicles while establishing measures to safely manage construction traffic and minimize congestion and disruption to surrounding communities. Our company contributed to the Environmental Impact Assessment, including the assessment and quantification of GHG emissions generated by diesel-powered construction equipment and transport vehicles. The study also developed a Construction Traffic Management Plan, assessing truck trips and equipment requirements and establishing safe routing, scheduling, and traffic control measures. Environmental considerations including dust, soil, habitat, and noise impacts were also addressed through appropriate mitigation and monitoring measures. The assessment quantified CO₂, CH₄, and N₂O emissions associated with construction activities and established a practical traffic management strategy for heavy trucks and construction equipment. The recommended measures support safe and efficient construction logistics while reducing congestion, community disruption, and environmental impacts, contributing to the sustainable implementation of the solar farm and Egypt's renewable energy objectives.
